Happy New Year, friends.

I visit Mike every day and note little positive changes here and there each time. Yesterday he was opening his eyes ever so slightly and doing some slow blinking. Maybe he was even trying to focus a bit with his right eye. He is still in the deepest stage of coma according to the nursing team and is unable to respond, but we choose to believe he can hear us and maybe even see us.

I had to confront the team about leaving trash around everywhere, and the response was appropriate and it was taken care of right away.

The beautiful, kind Spanish speaking woman next door that we were visiting daily passed away. It was a bit of a shock - this isn't a hospice space. It's a "get better and go home" space. It served as a reminder of how lucky we are to still have Mike with us.

"Don't try to change the world. Find something that you love and do it every day. Do that for the rest of our life, and eventually the world will change." - Macklemore
